Effective Oct. 1, 2007 Ford has revised their process for claiming TAP days. Dealers will now be required to submit a TAP claim for each loaner event. The batching of claims will no longer be accepted after the end of September. There will be two new options for the dealer to submit for reimbursement.
- The dealer may use the existing R.O. and create a separate repair line.
- The dealer may create a new R.O. with vin and repair date and cross reference it to the R.O. that was used for the actual repair.
Some important things to remember about these TAP claims.
- We now only have 30 days to get these claims paid.
- All reimbursement amounts have changed.

Reminder of Michelin Tire Form Requirements to Avoid Warranty Charge backs. In the last week there has been a rash of charge backs due to forms not being properly filled out or not sent back with the tires. Don't be one of these dealers, when these claims get charges back there will be no dealer appeals accepted. See attachment for details.
Michelin Tire Ford Requirements Information | Goto Top | Update: FORD: Excursion EGR Valve Replacement | Posted: 2006-09-25 | WPI | | 6.0L EGR Valve Replacement Versus Cleaning - 2003-2007 6.0L F-Super Duty, E-Series, Excursion
Special Note: Chargebacks for these issues could exceed $500 per occurrence.
A review of returned 6.0L EGR valves has found that over half of the valves tested are not defective. TSB 6-19-6 has recently been published with instructions to clean the EGR valve if it is contaminated. This TSB also states, "IF THE EGR VALVE PASSES THE POSITION TEST IN THE PC/ED THE VALVE SHOULD NOT BE REPLACED."
The position test is located in the PC/ED Manual Section 4: Diagnostic Subroutines - Performance Diagnostic Procedures test step 8: Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Position. Valves that pass the position test should not be replaced under warranty and may be subject to chargeback.
Category: Powertrain - Diesel Engine
Do: Refer to TSB 6-19-6 to clean 6.0L EGR Valves and PC/ED Manual Section 4 to position test EGR Valves. Don't: Replace a 6.0L EGR Valve unless it fails the position test in Section 4 of the PC/ED Manual. | Goto Top | Update: FORD: Hybrid Vehicle Maintance | Posted: 2006-04-27 | WPI | | Ford's recommended Maintenance schedule for their Hybrid Vehicles is different than all other Ford vehicles.
Recommended maintenance is: a tire rotation at five thousand (5,000) miles, the first oil change interval at 10,000 miles including tire rotation, and subsequent oil changes/routine maintenance performed every 10K miles.
The labor operations prove out this, along with Ford's Quality Care Maintenance Plan scheduled maintenance phamphlet. Labor operation MB5 pays 0.4, which is a normal tire rotation allowance. This service interval does not include the oil and filter or multipoint inspection.
For more details, see Ford's web site under scheduled maintenance.
| Goto Top | Update: FORD: Campaign 06B38 Update | Posted: 2006-04-14 | WPI | | | A change wish issued by Ford for repair procedures for Campaign 06B38. Labor operation 06B38B will no longer be valid for repairs completed after 4/14. New labor operation and repair procedure is to replace upper and lower clamps on these vehicles. Labor operation 06B38C is the only valid labor operation and pays 0.6. You should also charge out miscellaneous expense "other" for $8.00 for locally procured hose clamps. Just in case you didn't notice the updated procedures | Goto Top | Update: FORD: 05N04 & 46B01 Refunds | Posted: 2006-03-22 | WPI | | | This program expired as of 3/16/2006 for refunds. According the court ruling/class action suit against Ford, submission of refund claims had to be completed by 3/16/2006. Not submitted to a dealership for payment, but entered into Ford's system. Be advised that unless Ford puts out a supplement (and why would they, when they are protected by the court ruling), this program has expired for refunds. Vehicles still within the 7-year window are still eligible for repairs under 05N04 until the program expires for the vehicle in question. | Goto Top | Update: FORD: Use new fuel shortage claim procedure | Posted: 2006-01-25 | WPI | | Current policy is for the dealerships to fill the tank, retain the receipt with the dealer copy of the claim and submit a fuel shortage claim if the fill amount is more than tank capacity, minus the invoice amount. Very few dealers are doing this properly and are still using the old procedure of estimating off the gauge.
Ford states that the invoice amount is always actually 2 gallons less than what they put in the tank, to account for fuel consumption in transit, and a road test, and that a shortage will rarely need to be claimed.
Example: If the invoice reads 5 gallons from the plant, the dealership pumps 15 gallons in the vehicle, and the tank capacity is 19.5 gallons, then there is no shortage to be claimed. If the invoice reads 5 gallons from the plant and you pump 18 gallons to fill with the 19.5 per gallon capacity, there will be a shortage of 4 gallons to claim.
Please use the new procedures immediately in order to avoid any potential charge-backs.
| Goto Top | Update: FORD: Recall Troubles | Posted: 2006-01-24 | WPI | | | Many dealers are having troubles with a few of the current Ford recalls. When Ford Motor Company amends recall procedures or issues a supplement, it is imperative that dealership management quickly communicate the changes to their employees and ensure the right procedures are put in place to avoid losses in time and money. Please read through the following, more troublesome recalls, and review your process to ensure compliance with the factory. | Goto Top | Update: FORD: Supplement #7 to recall 05S28 | Posted: 2006-01-23 | WPI | | | Ford issued Supplement #7 to recall 05S28, dropping some labor operations, changing repair options and part numbers. Currently (since Dec. 16th), there is no provision in this recall action to disable the cruise, while waiting for a dealerships allotted shipment of fused jumper harnesses. If you don't have any in stock, have your customer come back when your next shipment is scheduled to arrive. Ford will no longer pay for a claim to disable those switches -- whether you have fused jumper harnesses or not. | Goto Top | |
